About the Artist
Wes Waddell is a multidisciplinary artist based in Australia whose practice revolves around a distinctly playful form of abstraction. Working primarily with gestural mark-making, bold colour and graphic forms, his paintings draw on everyday narratives, sport, suburbia and domestic life, filtering them into compositions that sit somewhere between diagram and daydream. Alongside his art practice, Waddell co-runs the design studio Studio Hi Ho, and that background in branding and communication subtly informs the rhythm, balance and typography-like structure of his work.
